Contemporary African Voices – Apr. 13

Contemporary African Voices returns with its third event…

Award-winning Ugandan writer, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, will discuss her novel, “A Girl is a Body of Water”, in conversation with Garvia Bailey, former CBC host. Q&A will follow. Ms. Makumbi also writes short stories and lives in Manchester, England.

We believe we come to know a country by reading its authors. This online event is a fundraiser for the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign which supports community-based organizations in sub-Saharan Africa who are turning the tide of HIV and AIDS. Please join us and learn more about Uganda.

Vancouver Grandmothers groups hosting this event are: East Van Gogos, Tikun Olam Gogos, VanGogos, and Welisa Gogos.

When: Live On Zoom, Thurs., Apr. 13 at 10 am PDT / 1 pm EDT / 7 pm in Zimbabwe (recording available Apr. 13-27)

To register: Register online at Eventbrite.

To Donate: Go to the Contemporary African Voices secure fundraising page on the Stephen Lewis Foundation website.
